Exams

Well it's that time of the semester, exam time. So I have 5 exams, four this week and then one next Tuesday the 8th and then I am done until August. I do get to take a break from studying before my last exam and me and my mom are going to Williamsburg for the weekend to see Chris, Mich and Ava and then we will be heading back to Raleigh to pack up a lot of things. I have slowly been packing things away in my room and now it is completely depressing to sit in here. There is nothing on the walls or really anything on my desk. I was hoping it would motivate me to study because there would not be anything to distract me but no I am still procrastinating. Okay well I guess I need to go and do something productive with my life, maybe lay out by the pool? haha ;)

Have fun at your shower today Kristen, hope you get lots of wonderful things for the girls!

Distracted

So I am supposed to be writing a paper right now for my Anthropology class that is due tomorrow but I decided to take a break and do a little blogging. This is my last week of classes then exams start and then my summer will officially begin! I had a little preview of summer this past weekend when I was in Myrtle Beach, just laying out on the beach got me excited about being out of Raleigh and back in Jacksonville (I'm sure I'll miss Raleigh after a week though haha..) for a little while and just getting to spend time with my family and friends from high school again. I have been trying to decide whether or not I should take summer classes this year and work or whether I should just enjoy some time off and work A LOT. Its a tough decision for me because the school I would be taking the classes at does not offer the courses in differnt sessions during the summer and I would have to attend school from May 18th-August 7th and Im not soo sure if I would enjoy it at all and if it is really worth it, because I am on track right now, actually ahead one credit so let me know what you guys think :) Well I guess I have procrastinated enough, so back to my paper I go, have a great night!

Sad

What happened yesterday at Virginia Tech has consumed my thoughts ever since the first news broadcast I watched. It is so scary to think that something that horrible could happen anywhere, and the more I read articles and watch the tv I am actually getting scared to go to class. I always felt so safe here but knowing that something like that could happen at VT it could happen anywhere. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone at Virginia Tech and their families.

Procrastination

So it's Sunday and I should be doing homework and studying but I decided to take a break and update my blog, although I do not actually have too much to update on. But anywho yesterday two of my best friends surprised me and came to see me, so that was a lot of fun :) Next weekend I will be in Myrtle Beach and I am soo excited about getting out of Raleigh and going to the beach with my friends! But that fun weekend will lead to a very not fun week of hard core studying for exams. My first exam is April 30th and then I have them everyday till May 4th and then hopefully my mother will pick me up and take me with her to Williamsburg to see Ava and the rest of the fam :) Then I have one last exam on May 8th and then my freshman year of college is over. I honestly cannot believe it is already almost over. I still feel like I graduated from high school a few weeks ago, its so crazy how time flies. Speaking of time I just got a forward today from Grammie and I really enjoyed it so I thought I would share it with you, it is kind of long but worth reading...

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. ONCE YOU READ THIS YOU WILL UNDERSTAND!

A young man learns what's most important in life from the guy next door.

It had been some time since Jack had seen the old man. College, girls, career, and
life itself got in the way. In fact, Jack moved clear across the country in pursuit
of his dreams. There, in the rush of his busy life, Jack had little time to think
about the past and often no time to spend with his wife and son. He was working on
his future, and nothing could stop him.

Over the phone, his mother told him, "Mr. Belser died last night. The funeral is
Wednesday" Memories flashed through his mind like an old newsreel as he sat quietly
remembering his childhood days.

"Jack, did you hear me?"

"Oh, sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It's been so long since I thought of him. I'm
sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago," Jack said

"Well, he didn't forget you. Every time I saw him he'd ask how you were doing. He'd
reminisce about the many days you spent over 'his side of the fence' as he put it,"
Mom told him.

"I loved that old house he lived in," Jack said.

"You know, Jack, after your father died, Mr. Belser stepped in to make sure you had
a man's influence in your life," she said

"He's the one who taught me carpentry," he said. "I wouldn't be in this business if
it weren't for him. He spent a lot of time teaching me things he thought were
important...Mom, I'll be there for the funeral," Jack said.

As busy as he was, he kept his word. Jack caught the next flight to his hometown.
Mr. Belser's funeral was small and uneventful. He had no children of his own, and
most of his relatives had passed away.

The night before he had to return home, Jack and his Mom stopped by to see the old
house next door one more time.

Standing in the doorway, Jack paused for a moment. It was like crossing over into
another dimension, a leap through space and time The house was exactly as he
remembered. Every step held memories. Every picture, every piece of
furniture....Jack stopped suddenly.

"What's wrong, Jack?" his Mom asked.

"The box is gone," he said

"What box?" Mom asked.

"There was a small gold box that he kept locked on top of his desk. I must have
asked him a thousand times what was inside. All he'd ever tell me was 'the thing I
value most,'" Jack said.

It was gone. Everything about the house was exactly how Jack remembered it, except
for the box. He figured someone from the Belser family had taken it.

"Now I'll never know what was so valuable to him," Jack said. "I better get some
sleep. I have an early flight home, Mom."

It had been about two weeks since Mr. Belser died Returning home from work one day
Jack discovered a note in his mailbox. "Signature required on a package. No one at
home. Please stop by the main post office within the next three days," the note
read.

Early the next day Jack retrieved the package. The small box was old and looked like
it had been mailed a hundred years ago. The handwriting was difficult to read, but
the return address caught his attention. "Mr. Harold Belser" it read. Jack took the
box out to his car and ripped open the package. There inside was the gold box and an
envelope Jack's hands shook as he read the note inside.

"Upon my death, please forward this box and its contents to Jack Bennett. It's the
thing I valued most in my life." A small key was taped to the letter. His heart
racing, as tears filling his eyes, Jack carefully unlocked the box. There inside he
found a beautiful gold pocket watch.

Running his fingers slowly over the finely etched casing, he unlatched the cover.
Inside he found these words engraved:

"Jack, Thanks for your time! -Harold Belser."

"The thing he valued most was...my time"

Jack held the watch for a few minutes, then called his office and cleared his
appointments for the next two days. "Why?" Janet, his assistant asked.

"I need some time to spend with my son," he said.

"Oh, by the way, Janet, thanks for your time!"

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away,"

Think about this. You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

1. At least 2 people in this world love you so much they would die for you.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
3. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.
4. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
5. You mean the world to someone.
6. If not for you, someone may not be living
7. You are special and unique.
8. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't
get it, but if you trust God to do what's best, and wait on His time, sooner or
later, you will get it or something better.
9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good can still come from it.
10. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most
likely turned your back on the world.
11. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.
12. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.
13 . Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when
they know and you'll both be happy.
14. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.

I hope everyone has a great week!!

New Hair & A New Layout

So today I woke up feeling quite under the weather, darn weather/pollen/who knows what. But I still managed to make it jazz dance class and it was a lot of fun today, it really brings back a lot of old memories from when I used to dance all the time! We are dancing to Lose Control right now and we are doing turns and jumps and rolling all over the ground, its a good work out and fun too! I also got kind of tired of my old layout so I am trying out this new one. But as I mentioned in yesterday's post here is a picture of my new hair cut...

What do you think?! Ok well I need to get back to my school work, hope everyone had a great day!

Update on my interesting life haha

Okay so I am back in Raleigh after a lovely but extremely short break. I will be here until May 8th (the day of my last exam) and then I will be heading back to Jacksonville for the summer. This morning I took my mom over to the apartment I am living at next year and she really liked it so that was nice. Touring it again got me really excited about moving in!! Nothing too exciting is happening this week, however my final webpage is due this Saturday night so be sure to check it out after it is finished!

Some fun news, April 20-22nd I will be heading to Myrtle Beach with AKPsi so I am really excited about getting away and having a break before the craziness of exams starts! We have three houses rented out and I am pretty sure they are second row, soo really close to the beach!

The only other interesting thing that happened to me over break was getting my hair cut..I feel like its soo short now!! Everyone says it looks good though so I guess its just going to take some getting used to. I will put up some new pictures later. I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and a great week :)
